The men and women elected to represent the Town of Chapel Hill have joined Wilson’s City Council in asking that Legislators leave broadband laws the way they currently are.
Both Councils have passed resolutions opposed to HB 1252 and SB 1004 which would change the law and keep all NC towns and cities from offering broadband services.
An excerpt from Chapel Hill’s resolution:
“WHEREAS, deployment of true high-speed broadband internet is a new public utility vital to the future economic development, educational outreach, and community growth in North Carolina necessary to replace lost textile, tobacco, furniture and manufacturing jobs…”
