You can be certain of these things

You’ll hear a lot of talk about municipal broadband in North Carolina. You’ll hear some things that are true and some that aren’t.

Here are some basic facts about Greenlight.

  • Wilson’s broadband network is faster than anything else in NC. Our fiber network goes all the way to the home.
  • Wilson’s infrastructure can be adjusted in the future to provide even faster speeds.
  • If you’re a Greenlight customer, your customer service (or tech support) person is here in town, 24/7.
  • If there’s an outage, local repair crews will respond immediately.

I don’t want this to sound like an ad, but I do want to convey the differences in this community-owned network. The people of Wilson deserve the best broadband infrastructure available. Greenlight provides that network. All we want is for the law to remain the same. We don’t need additional laws that will sandbag cities and protect aging cable systems.

  1. Wish we could have Greenlight in Greensboro. Wow, the speed/pricing are amazing!

  2. Meant to add: I’ve contacted many state representatives: only one local rep responded (natch) and that he/she was against it.

  3. Yeah, I wish we could have a Greenlight-type municipal broadband over here in Jacksonville, because Time Warner Cable is very inhumane, putting business before humanity.
